He is the author of many volumes on mythology including The Hero With a Thousand Faces (Bollingen Series, Princeton University Press 1968), The Mythic Image (Bollingen Series, Princeton University Press 1974) and The Masks of God (Penguin 1991). He was featured in the six-part PBS series,  “Power of Myth” hosted by Bill Moyers.
