Program Description
When the late J. Krishnamurti was heralded as a vehicle for leading humanity into a new age, he repudiated the notion, saying, “Truth is a pathless land, you can’t approach it by any religion or sect. You are accustomed to being told how far you have advanced, what your spiritual state is – how childish. Who but yourself can tell whether you are beautiful or ugly within.” Krishnamurti wrote and lectured for seven decades on the essential problems of the human condition. This extraordinary conversation is no exception. In this second dialogue with host Michael Toms, produced a year later in 1984, he addresses love, greed, violence, separation, time, death, conflict and fear, discussing them all with a clarity and insight that makes the entire spiritual landscape appear newly visible and replete with possibilities. Krishnamurti also has much to say about the source of our problems, both personal and planetary, with appropriate comments on how to resolve them. A priceless visit with an illuminated mind. (Please see Program #1782, produced in 1983, for the first interview with J. Krishnamurti).
Acknowledged as one of the greatest religious teachers of this or any other age, the late J. Krishnamurti was a visionary whose ideas are still ahead of his time. From 1929 until his death in 1986 he traveled all over the world speaking spontaneously to large audiences. He engaged in dialogues with religious leaders, scientists, professors, authors, psychologists, computer experts, and people from many different backgrounds deeply questioning their daily life. His talks and dialogues have been compiled and published in more than fifty books and translated into as many different languages. His books include Think on These Things (Harper Perennial 1989), Education and the Significance of Life (Harper One 1981), The Awakening of Intelligence (South Asia Books; 2 edition 2000), and The First and Last Freedom (HarperOne; New Ed edition 1975).
