FROM SCIENCE TO SPIRIT IN HEALING

Guest: Joyce Whiteley Hawkes
Program 3183

Host: Justine Willis Toms
Interview Date: 11/3/2006
Program Length: 1 Hour

Media: MP3 Download

Price: $1.99
Program Description:
Joyce Whiteley Hawkes is a healer. She arrived at this calling, surprisingly enough, via a doctorate in biophysics and a stellar career in cellular biology. Now she uses her intimate knowledge of the intricate workings of the body's hundred trillion cells to inform and inspire her work. By seeing, feeling, and interpreting the energy of a human-or nonhuman-body, she discovers the key to creating balance and even resolving crises for each individual. She's also dedicated to teaching others to develop their own healing capacities, and shares her knowledge freely. In this interview you'll learn what the colors you love say about balancing your energy; how to do a meditation to access the healing power of your cells; how Dr. Hawkes used touch and visualization to heal the heart of a wolf; and more. Ultimately her goal is to inspire you to "find the true deep vitality within yourself that leads to healing, and continue to explore your own interface between the mystery of consciousness and the incredible beauty and mystery of our physical world." (Hosted by Justine Willis Toms) 1 Hour

Joyce Whiteley Hawkes, Ph.D., completed her doctorate in biophysics at Pennsylvania State University and was a postdoctoral Fellow with the National Institutes of Health before settling in Seattle to work in research for the National Marine Fisheries Research Center, where she received a National Achievement Award for her work. She is currently a Fellow in the American Association for the Advancement of Science. In 1984 she began an intensive study of indigenous spiritual healing traditions, and in 1989 received a master's degree in pastoral ministry from Seattle University. She maintains a private practice in Seattle, and teaches throughout North America. She is the author of Cell-Level Healing: The Bridge From Soul to Cell (Beyond Words 2006).
