JUST STOP, BE STILL--AND THERE YOU ARE

We go to workshops. We read good books. We sit on our cushions and meditate. We listen to New Dimensions broadcasts, all in hopes of finding peace, an end to suffering…enlightenment. Why does it all seem so complicated? Spiritual teacher Gangaji says, quite simply, it's not. "We have very developed, evolved brains," she explains, "and they have an enormous capacity for complexity. And that's beautiful. There's nothing wrong with that. But it can be a trap. In our minds, in our capacity to discriminate and to remember a past and to project a future and to have opinions and judgments, there is generally an overlooking of what's always here." With her quiet grace, Gangaji invites us to move beyond the complications, beyond the mental chatter and the emotional turmoil, and discover what lies beneath it all.
